I can't get enough of this body butter. My skin has never been so silky smooth and with no toxic ingredients, it's happiness in a jar.

SHEA BUTTER

High concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins make shea butter an ideal cosmetic ingredient for softening skin. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Using shea butter on your body, especially your face, can condition, tone, and soothe your skin.

Shea butter has been proven to have extensive anti-inflammatory properties. Redness and swelling on your face may be calmed by applying shea butter products.

The rich tree-nut oils in shea butter can soak into your skin, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture. This moisturizing effect can last several hours.

Shea butter has also been reported to have anti-aging properties. If true, the exact mechanism isn’t well-known and may be related to promoting collagen production or decreasing the breakdown of collagen that’s already present. (1)

COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil is wonderful as a face cleanser, moisturizer and sun screen, but also it can treat many skin disorders. The fatty acids (caprylic and lauric) in coconut oil reduce inflammation internally and externally and moisturize, making them a great solution for all types of skin conditions.

It protects the skin and has many antioxidants that make it ideal for healing the skin. In addition, the antimicrobial properties balance out the candida or fungal sources that can cause many skin conditions. There’s so much unrefined coconut oil can do for skin. (2)

AVOCADO OIL

The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents in avocado oil help your skin stay smooth, strong, and elastic. You can buy avocado oil in any health or grocery store and use it to:

  • calm itchy skin

  • heal chapped skin

  • replenish dry skin

  • hydrate and moisturize skin

  • shield skin from ultraviolet radiation

  • protect against skin damage

The main benefits of avocado oil are to soothe and add moisture, so it won't work as well if you have oily skin. Using avocado oil won't leave a lot of grease behind. (3)

Body Butter Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups Organic Shea Butter

1 cup Organic Cocoa Butter

3/4 cup Unrefined Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil

3/4 cup Organic Avocado oil

2 Tbsp shaved Beeswax or pellets

Essential Oils

Directions:

Using a double broiler or a pot with water on the stove and a thick glass mixing bowl, boil water and add all the oils except for the essential oils. Stir until melted and remove from the stove. Add 30-40 drops of your favorite essential oils. Then put in the fridge to cool about 1 hour. Once slightly chilled and starting to harden around the edges, whip on high speed with an electric mixer. It takes about 5-7 minutes so be patient. Once whipped, transfer to clean, sterlized glass jars. Use about a teaspoon and melt it in your hands then dab a bit all over your body, then rub it in. A little goes a long way. It may feel a little greasy at first but it will soak into the skin and your skin will be softer than ever.
